Dash lights must be on the same circuit as they go out when the fuse blows (that's how I know my brake lights are out). I'm thinking it's the fuse block since messing with the fuse can change what works...

It happened to a bunch of people including myself. Except mine kept blowing the fuse for the windows/door locks/trunk/gas door. Pull the glove box off and check the harness.
